THE SMOKIN' BARREL -- UTILITY HELP by J.L. Kohli ---------------------------------- ************ *NWX EDITOR* ************ 1. open NWX EDITOR (make sure you've unzipped/installed it first!) 2. click on the FILE menu, and choose OPEN 3. choose sample_croshair.nwx (you should have downloaded it with this help file) 4. click on the CELLS tab 5. in the white area there are some numbers underneath columns that say "ID#, SIZE, WIDTH, HEIGHT, FLAGS" -- click on one of those numbers 6. a picture should have appeared at the right - this is the crosshair 7. click on the CELLS menu 8. choose EXTRACT IMAGE 9. save the image somewhere (where you can remember) 10. open this image in MS PAINT (usually START/PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES) 11. zoom in 8x on the image, and begin editing 12. when done, save the image (using the same file name it was as when you extracted it) 13. go back to NWX Editor 14. open up the sample crosshair 15. click in the numbers area so that the crosshair appears on the right again 16. click on the CELLS menu 17. choose CHANGE IMAGE 18. select the .bmp you edited 19. close NWX Editor * now your crosshair is almost finished * 20. rename the sample crosshair to: croshair.nwx (yes, only 1 's') 21. copy this file to your Outlaws folder (that contains the program) 22. open Outlaws and see that your crosshair is working. TIP: when you open the crosshair in Paint, you'll see a teal color. you MUST keep this color as the background color (i.e. draw over it) - this is the color that Outlaws will read as 'transparent' - therefore, if you drew a simple cross in white, the teal would be invisible and only the white cross would be seen. ALSO: let's say you made a T as a crosshair, and the bottom of that T is the middle point. Outlaws will flip that upside down, so that the instead of this: ___ | you would get this: _|_ do you understand? so remember, when you make anything like that, flip it upside down when you're done so that it will look the way you intended it to be. ** you can make crosshairs bigger than 16x16 pixels (like 32x32, perhaps 64x64) but if you go too big, it'll be off center. ** NOTE: I am not liable for any problems/mishaps you have using the NWX Editor. Contact them if you have any further questions. This file is only a guide to get newbies started. *********************************** *http://thesmokinbarrel.tripod.com* ***********************************
